TPCO won Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress by “The Technology of Ultra-high Strength of Casing” and “Special Casing String Structure for Ultra-deep and Complex Wells”

On January 11, 2010, the National Science and Technology Awarding Meeting was held by the CPC Central Committee and State Council in Beijing. TPCO won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress by “The technology of Ultra-high Strength of Steel Casing” and “Special Casing String Structure for Ultra-deep and Complex Wells”, this is the fourth times of TPCO being awarded such prize since 2000.The project is part of "Metal Material Processing and Steel Pipe Rolling" technology, designed and developed for Ultra-high Strength with non-API Casing and special Casing String Structure suitable for Ultra-deep and Complex Oil and Gas Wells, these technologies were successfully applied in many deep and complex wells including The Most Deepest Exploration Well (8408 meters) in Asia.Through this R&D project, TPCO obtained innovation production method of Steel Material design for Ultra-high Strength Casing, High Purity Steel Smelting, High-Precision Measurement of Pipe Rolling, Heat Treatment and Pipe End Threading for high strength and high toughness steel, forming a complete set of solution for Ultra-deep and Complex Wells.
